Biography
I graduated from
Calvin College in 1980 with a degree in Elementary Education.
I did not go into the classroom immediately following
graduation, instead working as an Education Director at
a church for two years. Returning to my childhood home,
I was the Administrative Assistant for Christian Reformed
World Missions in Nigeria. After two years in an office,
I began teaching 2nd grade at Hillcrest School, the international
school for mission families in Nigeria. After 4 years
teaching, it was time to renew my teaching credentials,
so I returned to the States to begin a Masters program
at Michigan State University. After receiving my Masters
degree in Curriculum and Teaching, I moved to Racine,
Wisconsin to teach 3rd grade in the Christian school there.
In 1995 I moved to San Jose. My years at San Jose Christian
have included teaching 2nd grade, a 2/3 combination class,
and 3rd grade.
Personal Biography
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan
in a family of five. I was born my dads first day
of teaching! My younger sister is married, living in Michigan,
and has three terrific children. My younger brother is
married and set up his dental practice in Michigan. When
I was 10 my family moved to Nigeria, West Africa as missionaries.
I returned to Nigeria after college to teach at the school
from which I had graduated there. I enjoy traveling, reading,
and going to movies. I am a member of the Church of the
Chimes.
Christian Philosophy of Education
In response to Gods unconditional
love, I am called to serve my risen Lord and Savior. With
the teaching talents God has given me, I am dedicated
to sharing Gods love, power, and faithfulness in
our everyday lives. I strive to help students know how
to let God rule in their lives. Through example and instruction,
students learn that they and their world belong to God.
My desire is to help students discover the excitement
of being a part of Gods world and learn to serve
to serve Him throughout their lives.
